MasterQ-UNIX Batch Utility [MSG, Inc. (Methods and Services Group, Inc.)]

MasterQ is a UNIX Daemon which has the capacity to provide various typesof Batch queues which System Administrators could set up to handle demandfor multiple and long-running jobs. MasterQ allows the users to plan andcontrol the execution of Batch processes in a more sophisticated way thanthrough the very basic UNIX commands available.Each queue is independent and can be controlled by the users and SystemAdministrator. The user submits a job to a queue with an appropriatepriority level. It will then wait in the queue until all jobs ahead ofit are completed to begin its execution. It also allows the user todeclare an overall maximum simultaneity level for any given time periodof the day. MasterQ will help the System Administrator to smooth out thebatch processing work load of the system, thus avoiding a secession ofpeak usage and idle periods. Each job can be assigned its own CPUprocessing priority.
